CM Update - March 2018

Key Highlights This Month:

We have continued to have discussion with DHS surrounding the SSTS and IMRM time studies in terms of how to get information from those studies to counties that would assist in their planning and budgeting.  DHS is agreeable to the conversations and are working out the details to a State/County workgroup to make some changes and get some info out to counties this year.

Case Management reform is ramping up after a letter from CMS indicating DHS has to address the discrepancies in how counties contract with providers, the issue at hand seems to be the varying rates.  We have requested a copy of the letter.  DHS is forming an overall design team to address the letter and case management redesign.

Requested Actions Needed From MACSSA:

DHS has requested that current reps on the fiscal and policy teams participate in the design team that begins meeting on March 26th.  All reps have agreed to do so: Stacy Hennen (Grant), John Sellen(Hennepin), Tom Henderson (Brown), Mike Herzing(Hennepin), Emily Schug(Dakota), Penny Pesta (Morrison), Stacy Steinbach(Yellow Medicine) and Janet Nilsen(St Louis) will represent MACSSA on this committee.

We will be presenting updates at the March MACSSA meeting.

New Trends in This Area:

DHS appears to be moving their timelines up and looking to take action, likely the CMS letter is the cause of that.
