Case Management Update - July 2018

Key Highlights This Month:

We are now discussing the issue of choice in case management as well as the requirements in statute to be a case manager and what the case manager duties are.  I will attach the documents that we have been using in the workgroup in those areas.  DHS was very clear with the group that they currently have a waiver that allows them to delegate CM to the counties and they have no intention of getting rid of that so a discussion of choice would be one that considers that and looks at choice in a couple of different ways.  In the discussions about the duties of a case manager one of the discrepancies between counties and providers seems to be that providers do not think they have to consider physical health or other factors like housing, transportation, etc and we have discussed that those things are critical and I believe CMS requires they be considered.

This group will be winding to a close with an all day session in September and their financial contractor, Navigant, will be getting the tool that will be tested to determine rates to the 3 pilot counties soon.  Also attached is the community engagement document that we reviewed in our last meeting.
